“STAYING ALIVE”

Every herb or microgreen can thrive with a little special attention. On this page, you will discover ways to enjoy yours for as long as possible! Here are a few tips.

LIGHT

Plants love light. They need its energy to grow and flourish, the more the better. Try to always place them where the sun shines the most, like on a windowsill facing south. If you do not have easy access to natural sunlight, you could consider buying a special lamp that mimics the same effects and helps your plants become healthy and strong.

WATER

Plants need water to thrive, but give them too much and they can drown. Like straws, the roots absorb water from the ground, so be sure to water your plants from underneath. The best way is to place the plant – in a pot with holes underneath – on a saucer, then to pour water directly into the saucer. Let it sit for 5 minutes a day, then remove and put your plant back where it can absorb light.

HARVEST

It can get crowded in a small pot, when the roots start to press against each other. When you decide to cut some herbs or vegetables for your dinner, or just to give your plants some space, choose wisely. Thinning out your plants gives the others more room to grow. Don’t try to pull out a whole stem, just cut the excess plants above soil level, they will decompose and become fertilizer for the rest!
